Updated on 2/15/2008 AGE REQUIREMENT: 6-12 years. WEIGHT (minimum): 400 lbs. car and driver Any material used for the purpose of adding to the car’s total weight must be firmly attached as a part of the car’s structure. No liquid or loose ballast, i.e., water, fuel, oil, sandbags, rocks, etc. allowed. BODIES: All cars must have complete bodies. Tail sections must be in place for all races. There must be a motor cover between driver and engine, made of 24 gauge steel or .0625” aluminum or equivalent. Body of car must be made of aluminum, metal, fiberglass or high impact plastic. No rear view mirrors allowed. The only part of the car allowed to be dismantled for driver to enter or exit is a quick release steering wheel hub. All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel in the event of a rollover. No mechanical, electrical or hydraulic adjustments will be allowed in the cockpit area. ROLL CAGE: Roll cages shall be made of at least 1 1/8 inch .065 wall thickness, or 1 ¼ inch .065 wall thickness. Roll cage shall be made of chromoly steel or equivalent material. The front section of the cage shall be no further back than the steering wheel. Roll cage shall have sufficient fore and aft bracing and strength to support the weight of the car and driver in case of an upset. Cage shall have gussets at the intersecting bars to the uprights. Bends must have at least 3-inch radius. No square or pointed corners allowed. Roll cage must be a minimum of 3 inches above the driver’s helmet. It is mandatory to install a cross brace behind the seat to support the shoulder harness. BUMPERS AND NERFS: Cars must have bumper extending beyond the front and rear tires. Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of the tires to the bumpers. Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge of the tires or wheels, whichever is the widest. No sharp corners or designs as to hook or damage. All cars must be equipped with nerf bars. Nerf bars must extend to inside edge of tires, but not beyond the outside of tire. SAFETY: Seat belts must be securely attached to the car and used at all times. Metal to metal latches only. 5 point seat belts, shoulder harness and sub strap are required. Belt dates must not be over three years old. Arm restraints are mandatory and must be adequately adjusted to keep the drivers hands below the top of the roll cage. Helmets must be full head coverage competition type and one of the three latest SNELL approvals. All drivers will wear a name brand flame-retardant uniform. Neck braces, cage nets and/or head and neck restraints are mandatory. SFI gloves are mandatory for safety. NUMBERS: All cars must have legible numbers in colors contrasting to the background on both sides of the car and on the nose. Minimum height of numbers on the nose is 8 inches. Minimum height on the tail is 10 inches. Minimum heights on both sides of top wings is 12 inches. Numbers should be separated from advertising so that they will stand out and can be readable by the scorers. Numbers are limited to 3 digits. WINGS: Wings are mandatory. The wing cannot extend beyond the tires as driven. The wing cannot be mounted outside the centerline of the tires. Side boards may not extend more than 3” beyond center section and sides must cover center section. No cockpit adjustable wings allowed. All wings must have a minimum 1/16” radius, no raw edges. No exposed wood or wood products to be used in the wing. The rib and spar within the center section (airfoil) may have wood products. Wings will be mandatory to enter the event. The only exception will be in case of a rollover, the car can run the night without a wing if a backup is not available. It is recommended for top wings to be pinned for easy removal in case of driver injury. Top wing minimum size is 6 square ft. Right side board maximum-42” x 20”; Left side board maximum-42” x 20”. BATTERY: All wet cell batteries mounted in the cockpit must be covered and vented outside the cockpit area. ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONICS: On and off switches must be on dash, top of the cowl or on steering wheel. On/off switch must be connected and functional. No radio communication is allowed to the driver. Data collection electronics, such as Micron Gold, are allowed. SUSPENSION: Torsion bar, coil over or combination torsion bar and coil over suspensions allowed. Rear wheel, chain drive only. All suspension bolts except wheel nuts must be secured by some type of locking device. CAR WIDTH: Maximum 56 inches. SHOCKS: Any shock absorber is legal. BRAKES: Brakes will be of sufficient strength so as to slide the wheels while the car is in motion at any given time. TIRES: Right Rear spec tire to be 16 x 8.5 x 8 American Racer (McCreary). No grooving, siping, softening or altering of the tire in any way. FUEL: VP C10 fuel or Sunoco Purple. Upper end lube allowed as stated below. ENGINE RULES: Either a sealed Briggs and Stratton World Formula racing engine OR a Yamaha KT100. The Briggs and Stratton World Formula racing engine must be sealed by a WRP approved vendor. The specs on these engines will follow the KidSprint USA engine rules. MUFFLERS: Yamaha engines must use the SSX by RLV 4-hole canister muffler. This comes in 3 styles: up, down, left and right hole position. This is also available in 4 hole 90 degree model. The Briggs World Formula will use a RLV 5442S header and RLV 4100 silencer or stock pipe as defined in the Briggs World Formula rules. Loosely mounted mufflers/silencers will mean disqualification. NOTE: Cars, parts, components, and/or equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection at any time or any number of times unobserved or undetected. Unless these specs say you can do something, you cannot. The Race Track Promoter has the authority to determine any penalty that will be imposed unless specifically stated in the rules. Rule Infraction Penalties (including but not limited to fuel and major tech items): First occurrence: DQ for the show, loss of points for the show, $250 reinstatement fee. Second occurrence: DQ for the season, loss of points for the season, $1000 reinstatement fee.
